Last April, Virbac Animal Health recalled certain lots of Iverhart Plus Flavored Chewables for heartworm prevention due to low levels of Ivermectin in the product. This left dogs receiving the preventative less than protected from heartworms.
Now, the recall has been expanded. If your pet takes this heartworm preventative, go to www.doggingtonpost.com/recall-alet-iverhart-chewable-heartworm-prevention/#.UhPv8NJJP;v and see what lot numbers are included in the expanded recall.
You can also call Virbac Technical Services at 1-800-338-3659, Ext. 3052, for more information.
It is extremely important to protect your dog from heartworm disease. In warmer climates, this should be year-around protection. In areas where a true winter is experienced, your veterinarian may suggest skipping treatment during the cold months.
